B.Sc. Geography - University of Iceland in June 2002

B.Sc. Thesis – Ice formation on Icelandic lakes – an experiment on the usability of an ice forecast model

 

Current occupation:

PhD student in Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis at Lund University, Sweden. Started in September 2006. Research project: Modeling potential forest growth in Iceland and forecasting future growth in accordance with global climate change.

Member of field crews:

Microbiological fauna in “prehistoric” soils in Iceland. Search for soils that recently have come up from beneath glaciers. Project leader: Dr. Graeme Paton Soil scientist from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

Trace elements in precipitation. Sampling recently precipitated snow from Langjökull glacier for trace element analysis. Project leader: Dr. Sigurđur Reynir Gíslason, Institute of Earth Science ~ University of Iceland.

 

Remote sensing of sea ice in the channel between Iceland and Greenland and north of Iceland. Ground truth - Numerous hours of flying with the Icelandic Coastguard along the ice front. Project leader: Dr. Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir University of Iceland.
